Responsibilities

As the Experience Architect on the team, I was responsible for creating the mobile wireframes, and then take over the desktop wireframes after the other EA was taken off the project. I was also responsible for and building the prototypes for Usability Testing. I worked with a Content Strategist, who provided me on goals and messaging for the designs.

Project Goals and Objectives

The objective of the Single Point of Entry Project was to create a single point of entry (single source) for movers on desktop and mobile:

  • Single source of comprehensive moving information
  • Cohesive experience
  • Simple and intuitive presentation of information
  • Place to send demand-generation prospects to
  • Facilitator of dream stage in the home-search process

Where It Began

Moving-related products, services, guidance and tools can be found in several places across USAA.com:

  • Our Products - Real Estate
  • Home Circle
  • Home Guide

Each of these “hubs” uses a similar tab structure that turns one page into multiple pages with little distinguishing hub from one to the other.

Project Kickoff

Due to the current state and wanting to problem-solve, our goal was to distinguish the single point of entry for movers from the hubs. In order to accomplish this, it was important focus on the USAA member who is moving or considering a move.

I worked with a Content Strategist who provided me with communication objectives, messaging hierarchy and messaging, primary and secondary tasks and products and each of their value propositions, movers benefits, tools, and advice. Below is a page template that I put together with the suggestions he had.

Wireframes

We came up with two concepts for the SPE Movers Landing Page. Here are some initial iterations. I recommend toggling the "Show Hotspots" on to help guide you through the interactions.

Bringing It to Life

As always, the Creative Designers on the team would work their magic in bringing my wireframes to life.

Usability Testing

I built a functional prototype in Axure for Usability Testing. However, I was not involved much in the testing and was transferred to another project that needed a designer.
